Default What TB for FAST 92

Just picked up my ported 92 and I'm window shopping for a tb. When the time come I wont be forking over 350+ for a new nw. I'll either scrounge around for a used NW or PTM but I noticed some people like the 90mm edelbrock and its very affordable even new. Seems like a nice piece and I like the fact it comes in black also. I tried to research it but havent found much.

The couple I have seen that tried it liked it but noted that it had a bleed screw to allow more air in instead of drilling the blade which I'm not sure how that works out and also that it doesnt have the pcv nipple that goes to the valve cover. I'm pretty sure thats just a fresh air source for the valve cover so I think it could just leave it open.

ANyone have any thoughts or tried the edelbrock? Also looking at a ptm, they used to be a lot cheaper than an NW but now seems like the prices have caught up.

I bought my PTM 92mm throttle body 5-6 years ago when it was introduced. No complaints.

thanks guys. Redss how are you running the 95? using an adapter plate or did you just port the opening up to 95? I saw ws6 store has the nW 92 for 329 which is pretty good, I've also been looking at the professional product 96mm but I cant fnd much info on it and of course I'm still searching for info about the edelbrock

I was gonna open the snout up but honestly it didn't need it so I left it alone.

Thanks red so it just bolt up to the 92?? interesting. I'm still looking at an NW as ws6store has them pretty well priced. Ia also was looking at this one besides the edelbrock. It says 96mm so I'm sure I can make it fit. Although it just looks to me that the linkage would be in the wrong spot. Aany thoughts?

also it looks like your running speed density but the coupler on the lid looks to be the same size as the factory maf. what fernco coupler is that? I'm thinking a 4"-3" reduced coupler would be good

That's a FTP 98mm lid with a 4 inch piece of exhaust pipe, PTM 95mm TB, and an SLP bellow stretched like hell to fit it all. It clowns the stock stuff in size comparison.

Why complicate it, Go with the FAST 92. Not worth saving a buck for the NW or PTM IMO

What about the nw complicates anything?

I got mine after hearing about the fast tb blades sticking and leaking. Maybe that's not an issue anymore but by comparison I didn't see nearly as many complaints about the nw. So that's what I went with and have had no issues.

imo you cant go wrong with ptm, nw, or fast. A used tb isnt a wear item so I'm keeping an eye in the classifieds to save a few bucks just waiting for a deal im in no rush. If i do go new I'll be getting a black NW

I have a PTM and a some brand that isn't even made any more (Not sure of the name and it has been in the shop for a COUPLE of years LOL) and I have never had any problems with any TBs. Last time my brother got his car tuned Mike@Vengeance was saying that the FAST TBs do not like to act right and cause the cold idles to act up so he recommended that we change from his FAST 92 to a NW 92.

I haven't had a single issue with the Big Mouth FAST 92 I bought. I did hear the FAST 90s from YEARS ago had sticking issues. A throttle body isn't that complicated, its a hole with a blade. If there are "cold start" issues, its not the TB, more like an Idle air control or a bad tune. People just like to sport what they use or sell. Or just want to save a few $$$.

The reason I said what I did, because you can't go wrong either way. I just feel if your going to buy Pepsi Cola, might as well buy the Pepsi Cooler to put them in. Doesn't make sense to contemplate if you want a Coke Cooler instead.

Well if it's so simple why did the FAST have so many problems?

Just like the BBK throttle bodies, the IAC passages that are cast into the housing are poorly designed.
