Question about small flange on side of header tube
Hi, I just have a simple question to ask. What is the use of the small flanges sticking out of the side of the exhaust tube on my headers? They have a sort of oval shaped flange. I can get pictures tomorrow if needed, but can anyone tell me by the description I've given?

No, he's talking about the "non race" versions of headers. Those ports are to reconnect your AIR system to stay "smog legal". If you buy "race versions" of the headers the ports dont even exist.
Since you have them, you need to buy block offs for them or make some put of some thin gauge aluminum.

Oh okay, that makes sense. Thanks for the help guys, I guess I'll just get some block offs for it. I've been told since my car is a classic I won't have to pass a smog test. Could I just cut them off and have them welded over? My driver's side header fits, but the passenger header is making contact because of that flange.
