Default SLP lid won't fit onto maf

I tried slipping it in and I ended up cracking it in half !!! What do you think I could do to fix it ? How the hell are they supposed to fit? Maybe I got a 00-02 lid for my 98 ? Need help!!! It's the one that has the SLP written in white on top.

Mine fit on my '98 with NO problems whatsoever. If you cracked it, you could possibly use some two-part epoxy from an autoparts store to fix it.

what maf do you have, all 98-2002 stock mafs, and lids are the same size. the 00-02 have a breather hose, thats the only difference.

my stock maf, and my slp lid didn't have any problems. don't know what else to say.

Ryan.

Mine didn't want to go in either. I held the MAF end of the lid over the stove for minute and let it warm up. Then I forced the maf in. It fit perfect. Once it cooled down, the MAF was stuck in place for a very nice tight fit.

All of these Lids are just cheap plastic. Whisper Lids had so many crack that they sent anyone who asked, a rubber collar to seal the crack. I got one.

How much diff do they really make ? Seems to me it's more problematic to put one in and deal with the cheap quality then their real gains. Kind of pissed since mine cracked and went in but left a huge half and inch space that needs to be filled with epoxy or something. I still find this unacceptable really but there is nothing I can do. I should of used the heat trick but it's too late now.

Umm.. that collar wasn't meant to seal a cracked lid..

All you need is a bit of hose and it fits just fine, it is kinda like the bellow but for the lid. Thats how the SLP lid works

Great so your telling me I was supposed to receive a peice of rubber !!! I didn't have squat with it other then the plastic lid. You are right it's the same size as the lid great thing I know this now that I cracked mine and epoxied it so it can fit... I guess it will be too short now to fit since I am waiting for the glue to cure.

Glue cured and it fits nice... I would of liked not to have epoxied it but it ain't too bad. I installed my fernco and it was just a tad shorter then I liked but it still fits half-way in. Still good to go... Done plugs today and it took me 4 hours and man am I sore ... Still lots of stuff to do tho...
