Default Header gaskets

I'm putting headers on my 2000 LS1, do I need new header gaskets or should I use the stock gaskets that are on the car now?

Jegs sells a set of header gaskets made by "Percy's" that are called "Dead Soft" Header Gaskets. Made of something they call dead soft aluminum.

Jegs' part # for the ones specific to the LS1 is 760-66032 and they cost $34.99 per pair. Worth it if they prevent leaks, and leaks are a common problem with most headers on LS1/6 heads. Spend the extra money, you will thank yourself later.

you can use the stock gaskets.... i have done it 2 times on my car...

many here do the same.. they are metal.. just take a look at them and make sure that they are in good shape.
If not just go to a GM dealer and pick up a new set, they are like 20bux or so. I dont recommend you use any of those Paper/rubber gaskets that they send with new headers.

I played it safe and bought a pair of new GM steel header gaskets for $20.
