Default What did I just screw up???

During the header installation I jacked up the engine without disconnecting the power steering hose and dumped PS fluid everywhere. It is in my alternator as well... not sure what I need to do about that.

So I am finishing up my header install when I notice that during the engine jacking I must have ripped this sensor apart. I need to know what it is, how much it's going to cost for me to replace it, and how I need to go about replacing it.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:

It appears to be the engine coolant temperature sensor according to: http://www.ls1.com/forums/f6/list-se...hey-do-159572/

Does anyone know where I can get one?

Your local auto parts store should be able to get that temp sensor for you as well.

Easy fix, be sure and look over the cannon plug lugs and wires leading to the plug. The temp sensor can be had anywhere. Your ok, no worries there, now you have experience!

Thanks for all the feedback guys. O'Reilly's is going to have me one by the end of the day.

The wires on the plug are fine, the clip pulled out of the sensor so it will just require me replacing the temp sensor and I should be good.

Any tips on the alternator? PS fluid didn't drench it, but I'm pretty sure that some did get inside. Is this something to worry about or will it be ok? Also should I just go ahead and try to clean it with some carb cleaner or something?

Thanks!

btw... what headers did you install??? They can say what they will about BBKs, but I did not have to jack the motor up, remove the steering knuckle or beat the crap out of the floor pan to get them in.

Yea, the workmanship and fit seems to be absolutely perfect. I'm crossing my fingers for no leaks lol. Just have to put belts back on, fix my sensor, clean the PS fluid off everything, change oil, remount coil packs, install new plug wires (MSD 8.5), and install new O2 sensors and I should be ready to test it.

God I hope everything works lol.

Just pick up some electronic parts cleaner when you pick up the sensor at the parts store. CDC makes an aerosol, so just drench the alternator really good and you should be good to go.
