Default Got a free SLP blackwing.

Went salvage yard diving this afternoon and found a Mint SLP blackwing air lid and MAF bellows in back of a destroyed SS. We do a ton of business with them so told me it's mine NC.

What's performance consensus on this lid vs factory lid versus say a SLP normal lid.

I remember everyone and their dog wanting the blackwing 10 years ago but don't remember exactly what the reasons were for it being so wanted

I don't think it's any better, just a rare part.

I dont see why people spend $200+ on the blackwing lid. Awesome find tho op. IMO if I were to buy a rare part it would be a TOTL exhaust no doubt.

It looks factory and it lacks the airflow-hampering
features (crosswise fins, silencer neck) that dog the
stock piece, and it fits without rubbing under a SS hood.
I did my best to measure the pressure drop back in '02
or thereabouts and could not get a reading on the
Blackwing or aftermarket lids but got significant drop
on the stocker; the filter accounts for much more than
either BW or aftermarket lids.

I'd buy it, lol! For me, its the feature of factory fitment/seal at the back, plus it'll fit without rub on my Ss hood

Nice pick up - especially for free. 5+ years back, they'd sell for $325+ all day long. Even if they aren't selling that high now, it's still a great piece.

Cool find if you're running a factory stock maf. Blackwing's that are complete still go close to that today, still a nice score!

As long as the rubber bellow is in good-great shape it 's a nice score.

The Blackwing fits better than any lid out there, or at least on my old ws6 and my 2 other buddies F-Bodies that I passed it down to after buying my c5 it did. I think they also look better as well. That's an awesome find! I had an FTP 98mm and switched to the Blackwing and the dyno showed no difference between the two. The Blackwing just looks and fits a lot better. (the looks is an opinion obviously)
