Default Can I use a 2003 PCM for my 98 LS1?

All of the below info is helping me install the 5.7 in a 68 Camaro.

I have a 5.7 engine/harness/pcm from a 98 Camaro and my local tuner told me that their HP Tuner software can't tune my PCM since it's a 98. I just picked up my 4l80e transmission (yes overkill for now, but I plan on Procharging the Camaro) and hopefully I can get it to work with everything.

I was given a PCM from a 2003 Chev 2500 6.0l and was hoping that I could make this PCM work, since it can hopefully control my engine and is already set for a 4l80e transmission. If it will work, hopefully the tuner can adjust everything to make it work perfectly.

Everything I see keeps showing 99-02 and I'm just out of those parameters with my engine/harness being a 98 and the PCM is 03.

Any info or help would be appreciated.

I'm pretty sure 2003+ is going to be a drive by wire computer.

Sounds like you just need to get a different tuner. lol
They should be able to tune a 98.

I guess I was not fully understand them, but yes they can tune the 98 no problem, but I can't use the 98 PCM because it can't control my 4l80e transmission.

I got the 2003 6.0l PCM/connector for free and was hoping to have it control everything, which from what I've been told and read...it can...HOWEVER, the 2003 is fly by wire and they have never tuned a vehicle to remove this from the PCM.

I emailed HP Tuners today and they basically told me they don't know if their software can do that because it is the tuners job to "custom" tune that feature out of the software.

I think I'm just going to start a new thread since it's a different question now.

Thanks for the help/responses on this one!!!

if its a 411 ls1b pcm you can(after you repin it). Also I believe you can run a 4l80e on a ls1 pcm it involve if I remember re pinning the trans harness. I put a 411 pcm cause you can get Custom operating systems for it for 3 bar boost
