did u use the u clamp or a band clamp? I noticed once i changed to a uclamp it would bang under my foot...i played with it for about a minute & got it to go away...just a thought.

The y-pipe banging isn't that bad to fix... first, I recommend a poly transmission mount to help with it banging on hard shifts. I have a poly mount and I have no banging on hard shifts at all, I only get some banging when under low load (like creeping away from a stop light).

Second, when you're installing it you'll see that it pretty much presses up against the floorboard when you first put it on. To give yourself a little bit of clearance, slip the pipe on and then stick a big ol' pry bar between the pipe and the floorboard and crank on it. Have a friend tighten the band clamps (don't use the u-clamps that come with it) for the y-pipe while you're cranking on it with the pry bar. Once everythings tightened and you let go of the pry bar, you'll see that you'll have about a half inch of clearance or so. Then just wrap the areas closest to the floorboard with some header wrap and all should be good.

oh fwiw i found jegs has form fitting band clamps...just havent had the chance to order them but they look like they will give a 100% better seal then the ones i got from napa. Might be something to look into & the same price as normal band clamps.

got everything fixed today, bent the egr tubes, somehow mangled my arm between the tubes for the one spark plug wire, installed y pipe only problem with that it didnt want to slide into the rear exhaust going to the muffler, used the clamps they sent and put a new band clamp on the rear of the ypipe. NO banging at all....they sound great

I have never had any problems what so ever with my Pacesetters. And I got them about a year ago, so they are probably the old kind.

The new Pacesetters fit flawless. Just remember to slip on the y-pipe before anything is installed just to check the fitment to the collector. After the headers are coated sometimes it's a tight fit but no problem if you know before the headers are bolted on.
The new y-pipe doesn't bang either and has a bracket which bolts to the underside of the car under the drivers side. Use a small grommet between the bracket and the floorboard for best results, but we didn't and no problems either.
