Head swap at high mileage
Car currently has 160K miles, is it worth chaning heads now, or am i better off waiting and going through the entire engine?
Anyone done heads over 150k miles?

Personally, I'm not a big fan of throwing new parts on an old short block. At that mileage you really need to look into replacing the lifters, trays, oil pump, chain, etc... if you're going to yank the heads off. It's really not that much more work or money to go ahead and have the block checked and possibly add new bearings and rings. Or toss them in and cross your fingers, some people do and have awesome luck.

Really depends on what condition the shortblock is in and how you plan to run it with the new parts. If your looking to put a huge cam and 4000 stall in it and beat on it at the track with a 150-250 shot then Id freshen it up. If its just gonna be for a little more power and not gonna live at full throttle and its in good shape Id do it to it. I put a Vortech blower running 8lbs of boost on my 172k longblock and daily drove it for 50,000 more miles before I sold the car. It still ran beautifully when the buyer drove it home 2 states away.

I don't see what the problem would be with a head swap. Even doing a medium cam. Why not? If the motor is in rough shape then that's a different story. On my car heads, cam, intake, gears, and other things were installed at 108k. It has almost 125k on it now. Seems fine. I say go ahead and do it if the motor is in good shape.

Engine itself is in decent shape. I replaced the chain & oil pump at 75k so those are in good shape. I put an ls6 intake and reverse split cam in around 80k, replacing rods, springs, lifters etc. Only issue i have is that it burns a little oil.
