Default Solid Motor Mount Issues

I'm installing Spohn Solid Motor Mounts on my '01 T/A M6. I've jacked the motor up as high as it could go. I've removed the Alternator, Alternator bracket, and still cannot get the **** in.I've even unbolted the passenger side motor mount to get the motor as high as it can go. I've loosened the 6 bolts on the K member, and I'm about to unbolt the shocks from the towers to lower the whole K member down.

Seriously though, has ANY one had this much trouble getting in these mounts? I'm getting pissed!

Not problems like that. I ran them as well. I started the bolts only a few turns till I had them all in, then torqued them all down. I fought it for a bit, but it worked.

Are you doing one side at a time or both at once?

One side at a time. I'm about to unbolt the shocks and drop the K member. If I do that, then I'm unbolting everything and suspending the motor.

Dude, no. Stop. You'll NEVER get them in one side at a time.

Unbolt them BOTH from the k member side, even leaving the plate to motor bolts a bit loose.

Now, LOOSEN the Trans mount. Trust me. It will work. You're fighting the Trans mount and a whole other motor mount.

Do this, and report back tomorrow with your success.

Make sure the trans is straight in the tunnel before tightening everything up (if the trans mount is loose). I didn't keep an eye on it and had to go back and straighten it.

I didn't think of that, but when I loosen the trans mount, I am not taking out the bolts completely, correct?

Correct. It should be just a nut. I haven't had a stock Trans mount in YEARS, so I'm going off what my Prothane was.

I was under the impression that if one switches to solid motor mounts the fillings in your teeth will rattle out and make driving unbearable

Haha... No no. Honestly, I didn't really feel a difference at all, but man it sure seems to make it more responsive, bc you aren't loosing ANYTHING to MM flex

No, I have such a large cam in the car, that now, it feels about the same in the car, but the motor isn't doing any uncontrollable shaking at all!

All three need to be solid? or, can you retain the rubber mounted trans mount? This is an issue on some cars

I don't recommend Energy Suspension trans mounts. They aren't perfect, and you have to toss the preload plate right off the bat. Go with the Prothane.

I would never go solid trans mount. Ever
