Weird tach issue
I know all about the slow tach issue with these cars, but mine is different. Mine will climb to 3k and stop then catch up to 4K then stop again. It's doing it ONLY at WOT. It's not being slow.. it's totally stopping.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

My car is doing the same thing, I posted a thread int he PCM section a month ago and didn't get any responses. I'm still unsure of the problem. I also have a OBD2 scan gauge and it gets stuck as well, so it seems to be the signal to PCM.
I'm thinking about pulling the intake and swapping the cam sensor and adding another ground from the heads to the frame, thats about the only thing that comes to my mind.
In for some answers too.

I verified on my interceptor gauge that my computer also is seeing the rpms stall out right about 3800 and again at around 5100. I'm wondering if either my MSD windows switch or MSD timing twister is causing it.

Hmmm... I wondered why my tuner never mentioned it and that would explain why. You have to unplug the gauge so he can plug in his laptop into the port under the dash. I will have to give that a try also.

preliminary results show that the Interceptor gauge could very well be the problem. I spoke with a tuner and he agreed with This. That the computer cannot feed the gauge information and keep the tach gauge accurate. I drove it with the interceptor gauge unplugged and the tach did just fine.

Good to hear the problem is figured out. Bad news these gauges are expensive as hell. I haven't had time to drive my car in the last month, life's been crazy. I'll try to get my car out this week and give it a try. Wounder if Interceptor would be willing to do something about this.

Bringing this back up from the dead. I finally got my car out and went for a spin today, unplugged the Aeroforce interceptor gauge from the OBD2 port, put the pedal to the floor and the tach worked just fine. Plugged the gauge back in and the tach sticks. Going to get a hold of them tomorrow and see how well they stand behind their product.

Mine is getting retuned and there has been no tach issue at all since I unplugged it. I need to call them as well.

I emailed them and linked them to this page. they told me to try plugging the gauge back in while car is running. I'll give that a try
