Default Manifolds vs. Shorties

What's the power difference at the top end between stock LS6 cast iron manifolds and a decent set shortie headers?

From what I've read, literally nothing. Save the money for a better mod or Long-tubes.

They're for a miata based car - very tight quarters. I can get corvette manifolds for <$100, shorties for $500, or long tubes for $1100.

2 options:

1. Pony up the extra cash or the LTs.
2. Save $400, get the Vette manifolds and use the cash for other mods.

Basically, shorties are all but worthless on LS engines - generally speaking.

id do corvette manifolds unless its a max effort build. for 1100 you aren't gonna gain much hp.
that 1100 can be better used else where

It's not a max effort build. Then engine is actually fairly mild. I agree, $1100 can make more improvements in other areas - like better brakes or suspension.

Not 100% sure which Vette manifolds would flow better. I assume anything from an LS1-LS9 would bolt up?

IMO, unless there's some really good flowing/fitting LT headers for a ls1 conversion Miata I'd just get the corvette exhaust manifolds, You can always get LT headers later. Keep in mind that if you plan to put a performance cam in it give it a 4* to 8*(@.05") I/E duration split.
