Default exhaust leak trouble

i have several exhaust leaks - headers, ypipe and cats. I took it to a muffler shop and they put some copper or some type of gel on it but hasn't helped. I don't think tightening it bolts will help because it's already as tight as it can be. the muffler shops don't know what else to do other than to weld it. any ideas? I would prefer not to weld it because when it comes to smog, I want to put it all back to stock without a mess.

I don't think this is a general answer type of question. What type of headers and leaking where, how? Y pipe leaking - at the joints of the y or the connections to other components, what type of cats, and what type of clamps are you using?
