Does anyone have a spare intake and some dial calipers laying around?
I picked up a used aluminum intake manifold and the previous owner had drilled and tapped the hole for the MAP sensor. I want to fill it in and re-drill for a stock type map sensor but I don't know the original diameter of the stock MAP sensor hole. Anyone have a spare intake and a few minutes that could help me out? I'd really appreciate it

I have a 5.3 intake and would be happy to measure for you but it might be different. Why not work backwards from the sensor itself? It fits in the hole right? :-P. If you don't have a MAP sensor yet, go measure one at the parts store for free. Or if mine is similar to yours I can measure for you. I do also have a new LS2-style truck intake sitting. Not meaning to be a smart-***..I may be missing something?

If you would I'd really appreciate it. The map sensor hole should be the same for all these ls style intakes I believe.
I just picked up a new 2 bar map sensor but it didn't come with a grommet and I can't get into the local chevy dealership for a few days to get one so I can't guestimate a good hole size for it. There's currently a brass 1/4 npt barb fitting threaded in the hole I'm having a hell of a time getting out. No luck yet with the torch and vice grips lol.
I might just have to cut it off flush and drill it to size. I'm kinda concerned that the drill bit will make a rough/ugly hole that the grommet won't seal against... Either way, I still need a starting point for a hole size.

Yep. Sorry for the delay; I just saw you replied. I measured about same as Harry. By the sensor, I think you could go a little smaller. See pic with rubber seal. Why do you need to thread it? Are you using something different or are car sensors different?

Sorry it's a little confusing. Right now as I bought it, it's already been drilled and tapped to 1/4 NPT. There is a 1/4 barb fitting installed in it now. I was looking at using just the stock push in with grommet type fitting and wanted to removed the barb fitting, but I'd need to make the hole smaller.

Got it. Thanks for clearing up the confusion. I was sorta interested because I screwed up the mounting clips on the MAP sensor getting it off to measure and thought if there were a screw-in version I could get that.
But no worries..I was a super glue ninja in a former life so all is good.
