Default Remove air dam to mount tranny cooler, any negative affect?

Having the Fast Toy ram air kit, I had to remove the black plastic air dam in order to mount the tranny cooler. Is there any negative affect in the plastic piece not being there? Also, is the FTRA kit still functional? I also have the windshield washer resevoir removed, so in my opinion from the looks of it, there is plenty of air moving across the radiator, but I could be wrong. Thanks. Here is a few pics:

That air dam deflects air up and into the radiator.

watch your coolant temps closely

The dam is pretty important - I'd figure a way just to cut out the part that interferes with the cooler and keep the rest...

Well I really cant monitor the temps. because the temp guage in the dash is just a 3 stage guage or however you want to put it. (cold, normal, hot) So I dont know if the temps. fluctuate. I figured since the washer fluid resevoir was out too, it may help.

The dam also affects your aero package. I don't know what it will do handling wise at 120mph with all that air rushing under the car.

I can't see your pics for some reason, but if I were you I would do some searches for what has been coined the "dope stye" install. You can keep the air dam this way.

Just to clarify, Im referring to the black flimsy plactic piece that was once in front of the FTRA kit, not the fairly thick on that goes all the way across the bottom of the car. Im not worried about the handling because the car only sees 1/4 track use and occasional street cruising.

Driving in a straight line and the front end gets light can cause some issues.

But, it sounds like something other than the actual air dam

Do you mean the radiator shroud perhaps? If so I wouldn't sweat it, I took mine out during my FTRA install and I never put it back. Years ago. I have a 98 with an accurate temp gauge and that thing never goes above 210, even idling in traffic in the summer.

I guess thats what you call it...its the flimsy black plastic piece that went in front of the FTRA I believe. It sits in there at an angle. I believe it also snaps into the radiator on the sides. Thats the piece Im referring to.

I have mine setup up the same way, no washer bottle. It gets pretty hot here in Ga, 90 degrees today LOL, no problems. I do run 2 bottles of Redline water wetter but even before that I had no problems, over a year and a 1/2 now.

People, he's not talking about the air dam under the car...where do you see that in any of the pics? Geez....

Anyhow, I have had my radiator 'shroud' off for a long time and never had a problem.
