Exhaust Tones
Im looking for a race like sound from my LS1, Im not into the muscle car type of sound/rumble, anyone know of any good exhaust systems that would give me a nice roar resembling that of a C5R, Enzo, Viper GTS-R, ETC... a real racing sound,
I relize my cam and **** would have some to do with it too, but what would be my best bet for exhaust system, they all put out different notes, how are yours like. I don't feel like being like 1 of my dumbass friends who went through 20 systems trying to get the one that looks and sounds best.
I'd really like a titanium exhaust but very few exhist out there, borla being the only one i can think of, and i still would probably need one custom made cuz those are for vettes,.
But metals aside what would give me that nice racing purr?

Wow. Well do you want a purr at idle or at full throttle.
Those three examples all have different engines
C5R V8
Viper V10
Enzo v12
All of them are gonna sound different just based on the number of cylinders you have firing and your firing order of your engine and such. Not much you can do with that I think.
Check out www.ls1sounds.com and take a listen

Well problem is that an LS1 is going to sound like what it is... big displacement (compared to most cars) American V8.... can't do a whole lot about it... it is what it is.

Loudmouth exhaust with long tube headers and off-road y-pipe (no cats) = race car sound!
I've heard this setup in person on a mild H/C car. But be prepared, it will be VERY LOUD AND RASPY!

For the best sound get some nice equal length long tube headers with xpipe. Make sure the tubing b4 the xpipe is equal length and then run a pair of borla mufflers. This will get you a nice refined exotic sound. Drawbacks will be loudness and ground clearance.

You've got to be kidding me...
There is no way your going to get an exotic sound out of an LS1. Period... Corsa's system on the C5 doesn't sound all that exotic in person, I've heard it.
I'm not trying to step on your feet or anything, but a TA isn't meant to sound exotic. And it would sound gay if you managed it. You spent 30k on a borderline mullet mobile. Only reason why is isn't a full out mullet mobile, is because of the price....30k
Get your self some long tubes, dual cutouts, and go **** off your neighborhood. That's what she's meant for.

maybe they sound different in real life, i dunno cuz i havent heard them but the corsa exhaust sounded perfect, a nice roar at lower rpm and a higher pitched wine at upper rpms,
probably look into an x-pipe true dual... ls1speed.com has 1 for like $1200 + $5XX over the axle... which makes almost $1800 (-) the headers and the fact that i would like a custom made titanium system (call me dumb but your looking close to a 45 Lbs weight savings, i think its damn worth it!!!!!) and thats gonna drive some big stick up my *** for just an exhaust...

Does your quoted $1800 include headers of some kind?? I did longtubes (self install) and ls1speed duals to axle for like ~$1,100 as they charge $550 for a to the axle system.

If you dont want rasp, use cats. It sounds a little more refined that way. I had SLP longtubes no cats and a cut out and it sounded down right mean. I added high flow cats, it still sounds mean but more refined at the same time.

Check out this sound clip.
http://www.ls1sounds.com/true_duals/...m_pete1080.wmv
Its a video of a z28 m6 with a cartek h/c, lt, xpipe with ultraflow mufflers. Sounds damn good to me. The reason ls1's sound like crap is becuz of unequal tubing in the exhaust. This causes exhaust pulses to collide simultaneously at the collector instead alternating with the firing order. A good example is mac headers. They have unequal length primary tubes and are raspy as hell. Then add an unequal length ypipe and it sounds even worse.
Ls1s dont have to sound like crap. True they will never sound like a lt1 but who cares. These engines make more power and have their own sound. Give a ls1 some equal length exhaust tubing and it will sound tuned instead of noise.
