Default Stock "I" pipe removal

Dumb newb question here:

How do you get the I pipe/stock exhaust after the Y out of the car?

Wasn't sure if disconnecting the shocks and raising the rear would do the trick - I'm hoping to have a swappable exhaust setup for AutoX so I can use the stock stuff on the street, then install my shorter (lighter) setup at the track or the night before a race.

Thought about cutting it in a convenient location and put a wide clamp on it so it would come out easier. Any suggestions?

Don't be a sissy and run the non-stock exhaust all the time. It won't be loud

Zach's car with loudmouths has permanently scarred me.

I'm going to recreate Korry's setup with a turndown on a magnaflow muffler that dumps before the axle. Should be substantially lighter than stock.

Not sure it's going to be acceptable for street driving though :/

See, turbo cars were so easy - you can run a cherry bomb or straight pipe muffler and it was quiet enough.

A loudmouth is obnoxious and kinda sounds like crap. Any real muffler will be a different ballpark than the LM1.

Also don't forget, his car was cammed...even though we didn't know it. That makes a huge difference in exhaust volume too.

If you put a turndown facing out from under the car or even 45* out instead of aiming directly at the ground you should be fine with one of those larger case magnaflows like Korry runs.

IMO, if you want it very DD friendly then go with either Borla XR-1 80085, Magnaflow 112867. Both of these 5" diameter mufflers will be very easy to live with in a DD car, even if it's "cammed".
If you want it louder but still very reasonable (NOT "cammed") then go with a Magnaflow 14419 or Dynomax 24219 (a little quieter than the 14419), both are 4" diameter.
Which ever muffler you go with run it right off the Y-pipe exit, then into a modified J-bend like this:

IMO, sounds like he also wants to drop some weight at least for the track so a cut-out doesn't help him in that regard.

remove one end of the passenger side shock, lower control arm and sway bar, lower rear down on that side remove spring. exhaust can be removed without cutting.

Hmmm I have to remove all of that? Might just cut it after all. Not really practical to swap back and forth
