Default What is this air filter

What brand is this air filter? I just changed mine today, its had this air filter since I bought the car from the previous owner. I don't see how it would be any good. It seems like this metal bar across the top would affect the flow, along with this glue type substance holding all the paper ridges together?

Ick. I haven't seen one like that before. I'd get rid of it for, well, pretty much any other filter that you find at the parts store! If you want to stick with paper, I'm partial to ACDelco, but I personally went with an Airaid non-oiled filter.

Exactly what I was thinking! The bar across the top is over an inch wide! How is that not a restriction? Plus the glue substance on the back?? I wonder how much hp if any I've been losing

You probably weren't losing that much horsepower. Like said above; I would just buy a new AC Delco filter and save money from not buying a K&N.

That's pretty over priced at $14 it's only $10.25 at Rockauto with 5% discount (Always search Rockauto discount code be for checking out there's always a 5% discount code), but I'd get a WIX for $9 anyway.

That's $13.65 shipped from Amazon. Rock Auto charges $10.79 but also $7.51 for shipping.

True but thats why I always buy things like that 2 at a time along with several oil filters for all of my vehicles when I have to buy repair parts.

I've never seen one with support straps. The "original" air filter would be an ACDelco part.
