Default Injector upgrade?

I have a 2001 SS with a custom grind comp cam (220's) with a full exhaust. I will be getting it tuned in the near future and would like to know if I should upgrade my injectors from stock to 36 lbs?
I would hate to get it tuned and find out I would make more power with bigger injectors and need a retune.
Should I upgrade my fuel pump also?
Thanks.

When I got my tune after cam and header install my tuner told me I was at 100% on my stock injectors and we put in 36# injectors. Never upgraded fuel pump and haven't noticed any problems. If you get bigger injectors, don't put them in before tune if you are driving to tuner. Wait until you get there, then install them.

Why wait to install them? I was going to get the same injectors.

BecAuse if you put in 36lv injectors and the pcm doesn't know it, the car will think it still had the stock 28s and will command way more fuel from the 36s. You run the risk of washing the rings out not to mention the car will run like crap.

I run ls3's on my car. I went with them because they are 42lbs, really cheap, and the tuning files for them are readily available in a number of places

The stockers should be fine for your setup and power levels. It never hurts to go with bigger injectors if you plan on doing more HP mods with your car in the future. I plan on being at 450+ at the rear and will be going with the 42# Bosch injectors.

Not planning on increasing the hp in the future(suspension, brakes next). When I talked to the tuner he suggested bigger injectors so that I wouldn't leave any power on the table by being restricted with not enough flow.
I could save myself $300 plus not buying new injectors.

I maxxed out mine at 425 with stock 243's and the cam in sig. They were 102% at 5000. It wasnt even close lol people say stockers are good to 450whp but i've never seen that personally.

Op I would def get injectors as if you go to the dyno and they max out you will need new ones anyway. How are injectors costing you 300?

You can buy ls3's for 100 bucks in the classifieds which is what i did then get height adapters (on top of the injector) from fic for 89 bucks and for about 200 you have a set of reliable 42lb injectors.

I don't think there is a definitive answer for what injector size will work at a said power level; its more of a guesstimate. If the OP's tuner said that his injector duty cycle is at its max, than I would listen to him, but many guys running the cam only set up are doing fine with stock injectors.

i wouldnt buy fasts. theyre just re branded bosch units that sell for more money. Another option are the gtp injectors they're advertised as 36 lb units but really are 42lb with ls fuel pressure. they are a complete drop in and go for 125 or so on here for a set. I went ls3's because of the fuel rail i used and also because the gtp injectors will be older whereas the ls3's are usually new or low mileage

I like the idea of 42 lb injectors. I say no more for power now, but further down the road you never know.

There is a set of Bosch 42lbs in the classifieds now for $80 and another for $100.

I run those. Can't beat the price.
