Which car intake on lq4
I've been searching around and found some results, but they were from 5+ years ago, when prices were different.....
I have a lq4 out of a 01 Denali. I've gotta go with a car intake to keep it under the hood of my truck (95 4Runner).
I'm looking around at a couple different intakes...
Fast 92 $830 new
Holley/Weiand 300-111 $490 new
BBK 50045 $550 new
Stock LS6 or even a LS1 $300-700 used
I'm not worried about the "heat issues" people have talked about with the aluminum ones. This isn't gonna be a racetruck, will never go down the track, and the engine bay will be pretty wide open
I would be perfectly content with a ls6 intake, but the prices are just as much, sometimes more, than the bbk or Holley. From what I've gathered, the FAST is the most popular, the best from the list, but also almost double the cost
People had different opinions before, even telling people to stay with their intake they already had. Since I'm basically starting from scratch, I'm not sure which route to go. Any current info would be appreciated

That's what I've been looking around for, but haven't had much luck yet.
Also, the motor internals will be stock for now. I might swap a cam later, but haven't really looked into it much yet. Don't plan on ever doing turbo, nitrous, anything like that

Where are the magical $40 ls1 intakes you speak of? I saw them for that a couple years ago, but now I'm seeing them go for $150+ for a bare intake.
I was skeptical about that cheaper typhoon intake bc of the price and I haven't seen many people run them. If that's the case, I can get one of those and a nice bigger TB, both new, for the same cost as I would get a used ls6 for
So am I right to assume that the typhoon intake is very similar to a ls6 in performance, if not a little better? Heat soak aside

If you can find a good cheap LS6, by all means get it. It will take patience, but you can still find one at a good price every now and then. Or if you find an aluminum one for a good price get it. Where do live? Have you checked local craigslists?

That would be the route to go then, since I can get one of them for around $200 brand new off ebay.
I'm thinking a 96mm typhoon intake, NW (or similar) 92mm TB, not sure on injectors(I'm assuming stock ls1/6 would work?), and a billet fuel rail
Would that be good, or would I be just as well off with a stock TB, since the motor is stick internals for now. There's a good chance I'll swap the cam out for something better, especially now that I've been told it's a small one. Just haven't gotten that far into research yet

I saw the dorman ls6 one, but didnt really wanna be one of the guinea pigs for it. I ended up getting a 85mm typhoon intake/TB combo for dirt cheap, so I couldn't pass it up. Thanks for all the input
