Default LQ4 upgrade tips

Hi All,

I recently purchased a 2006 Chevy 2500HD with the 6.0L LQ4, and am looking to add a little power to it with a $1000 budget. I did some quick digging through this forum and am having trouble figuring out where to spend my money. This truck is completely stock, and will be towing my LT1 trans am. As you can tell, I am completely new to the LS world and can use some help. Any ideas on intake setups and exhaust setups would be much appreciated. I need to keep low end power as much as possible to help me with towing.

Thanks in advance!
Brad

Thanks. Any idea on specifics? Doing a quick glance through Summit, I found Spectre Performance 9900 CAI. Exhaust I found Dynomax 39379. I was thinking along with this doing an intake manifold and TB swap. Not sure if it'd be worth it, or which one to go with.

Why would you be considering an intake and TB swap?
Far as CAI replacing the pipe with the baffle may help but the factory filter box is good.

The truck intake manifold is fairly good, to actually improve on it you could try the newer truck intake or blow your whole budget on a FAST truck intake.

Honestly I would look at the exhaust mod and a custom reprogramming, maybe look into getting just the spectre pipe but not the custom hot air intake box it comes with.

I did a k&n Cai on my truck and a free flow exhaust with a tune and it helped mine out . Stock baffle in the oem air tube sucks . My truck is 2005 silverado 5.3

Again the stock airbox is pretty good, just swap the tube.

Thanks guys. I'll go with the exhaust, intake baffle, and custom tune then probably.
