Default Bad Cats?

I bought an 01 WS6, guy said it was all stock but thinks the Cats were gutted because of strong smelling exhaust. How can I verify and what is a good cat to buy that won't throw codes and make my eyes water?

Depending on where they are located and the tools available you can remove a section of the exhaust closet to the cats at least one side and visually look assuming you can see through the cat.
Cut a small section off the bottom of the cat and open to verify. You can weld the piece back after.
Just replace, we have used Magnaflow cats on some vehicles as replacements and they seem to work well. Again you will have to weld or use some exhaust band clamps to install them.
Just some ideas
