Default K&N cone filter length

Hi, i am wondering what would be the correct cone filter length for my setup, vortec 5.3(L33) with ASA cam, running LS6 intake and 3.5" o.d intake tubing.

I have ordered a k&n RU-2790 by mistake and i just think that this filter is way too short...

Heres the specs of it : http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?prod=RU-2790

Any help with this would be really appreciated, i searched but didnt find any clear answers concerning filter length.....

Thanks in advance!

The engine is in a BMW 3 series track car.....I will probably have the headlight removed and the filter will be right there on passenger side....

I don't think that size will hurt anything, If you fit bigger or longer I would. If anything you'll just have to clean it a little more often.

3.5" inlet but only 4" long ? Maybe but as conan said, longer is more area. Just as important is piping. Are you running SD tune ? Is there a way you can run a straight shot from your TB over the radiator to the cool air in the grill. If you go to your headlight can you get there using a 45 degree bend with a big radius like this one ?

I will be using Fast EZ-efi 2.0 self tuning computer, i have to go out of my TB with a silicone 90 degree elbow and then probably a 3.5" bend to go near the headlight.....

So you guys think i should really find a bigger filter? I just dont want the intake to be a restrictive point in my setup.....

A bigger air filter has more surface area to draw air from which should have less restriction. I'd go with a larger filter if it doesn't cause any fitment issues.

I also have a silicone 90* elbow and a short run to the MAF. Car is a swapped RX7. I have researched and determined that the elbow is costing me 10 to 20 HP.
