Default 5.3 with Corvette T56

Hey guys I am putting a 5.3 into an S10. I found a t56 out of an 03 corvette for a good deal. Are the corvette t56's any different than the Camaro and trans am's? And if it isn't different, is it just a direct bolt up. Its a 2000 5.3. Thanks!

The shifter location is different. Usually, the F-body transmissions are the easiest to put into older vehicles, because the shifter is on the tailshaft.

In an S10, it'll put the shifter coming up through the cupholder in the center console.

Corvette C5,6, etc use a transmission connected to the differential. It's in the rear of the car, that makes it a lot different.
It could be converted to an engine mounted trans, but not worth the cost or effort.

+1

C4 was the last generation of Corvette's to use conventional transmissions. From there on out (i.e. C5+) they have a transaxle. Helps out a lot with weight distribution. Not a mid-engine, but still pretty good.

You would need a bell, mid plate, main shaft, tail housing & shift rail.
