5.3 dipstick reading incorrect
I have a 5.3 LM7 I'm putting in a K1500. Using stock manifolds, oil pan, dipstick, heads, and accessories. This has been my first overhaul on an LS, and I haven't started it yet. I put in 6.75 qts to compensate for empty oil passages and such but I have barely any oil on the dipstick. What can I check? Also I have yet to find any kind of seal to go on the dipstick tube, is there supposed to be one?
Thanks in advance for any help

Mine has an o-ring on it. The dipstick is pretty long. I know it is probably a dumb question but are you sure you have it the correct hole in the block? Passenger side just above oil pan.

Lost track of where my thread went lol. Anyway I took a few pictures to verify the dipstick is in the proper location and if that dipstick looks right for a LM7. I'm sure the o-ring is wrong, but could it throw off my readings that much?

Found some measurements for the dipstick
https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ick-truck.html
Metal to metal dipstick length for my dipstick is 27-5/8", the overall length including the handle isn't even the 31.75" described. So I'm going to order a new dipstick and see if that fixes the issue.
On another note, the truck does run and drive, maintains a good ~50 psi of oil pressure read through a new Auto Meter oil pressure gauge. So I don't think I'm going crazy...yet.
