It's got the ls1 oil pan does that matter? I 'thought' the ls1 used a 46 but I cant remember

Little taller filter is good unless ur car is slammed!

I've been running the taller filter since my first oil change with my Z back in 2002. Never had any problems with them hitting the ground.

External stuff.

The oil filter is determined by the oil pan, not the block.

Be aware later GM replacement pans had a different filter thread requiring a different filter.

This was the exact answer. It was an OE pan I bought from GM a few weeks ago. Grabbed a 46 and it wouldn't fit. About had a heart attack cuz the motor was back in the car already and didn't wanna swap the threads just cuz it woulda been a PITA. Went and got a PF48 and wahlah!! It fit. Thanks all!
