Default excitor wire plug

Trying to get rid of a 1637 code (generator L term. circuit)and bought a new plug and it as 4 wires on it and was going to match up old plug wire position and cut off other 3 but wonder if it is right since it looks like it was spliced in already. been searching for a wiring diagram since there are 4 pins in alternator. any one have pics for 2001 connector (not sure if difference in years)

Another piece of advice....instead of cutting the wires simply use a safety pin to unpin the ones you don't need. Also that way if you have to repair a plug in the future you'll have 3 extra wires with the factory style crimped end.

I don't know how to get rid of this code either. I replaced my alternator about 15,000 miles ago; everything seems to be working fine, but it sets this DTC for some reason.
