Default Anyone Running a 4" exhaust with Magnaflow 14153?

Looking to swap my Borla XR1 with one of these. Mufflex said they are quite a bit quieter. Trying to get some opinions from people with this setup... Thanks!

Looking forward to answers and examples! Was thinking the exact same thing. Did you have drone?

I would be surprised if there was much difference, since the Borla has stainless steel packing material wrapped around the perforated core, and the Magnaflow 14153 has NO packing material wrapped around its perforated core

That's what I thought, but mufflex swears it's a lot quieter. I don't know? Get a little drone, nothing like a flowmaster tho. And a harsh tinny sound at certain rpm.

I have the Magnaflow 14163 on my 98 SS Camaro which is the round case version of that muffler. My exhaust is coming off of 2" tube Kooks headers with 3.5" collectors, 3.5" Y-pipe with a 3.5"/4" flowmaster merge, 4" I-pipe with a 4" Dynomax bullet muffler. The exhaust then goes over the rear axle in a factory style setup with the Magnaflow 14163 in the stock location with a single 4" exit on the left turned down right at the bumper cover. Where the exhaust comes over the axle I have a electric cutout mounted with the exit going back and turned down just like the exit on the left. Both pipes are hidden by the bumper cover.

The engine is a LSX 427 with 12:1 compression with a 248/264 duration .691"/ .684" lift Hyd roller camshaft. The exhaust is not obnoxiously loud, but I am surely not gonna sneak up on anybody even at light throttle . But honestly I have to say on a full throttle blast late one night while leaving a buddies house he called and said he could hear me about a mile and half away.

On my previous 6.2 liter cammed combo I had a similar setup with 3.5" exhaust with a Hooker Aerochamber muffler in the same location and it was a fairly liveable setup.

Thanks a lot!! That sounds like a nice setup. You have any pics? How does that 3.5" to 4" merge fit around your torque arm mount?

I don't have any good pics at the moment. I need to take some next time I have it up off the ground a bit. The Flowmaster merge was huge, my exhaust guy had to trim it down in overall length and had to shorten the inlet legs down to clear my BMR 4L80E trans crossmember. The body of the merge was a super tight fit going through the opening in the Torque Arm mount as well. It was a challenge to get it to fit and I had to wrap the Y with some header wrap to keep it from banging on the mount. I also had him weld in V-band clamps in four locations so the exhaust could be disassembled for easy removal. Was not a cheap setup by any means.

It is pretty loud @ full throttle bursts, and of course even louder with the cutout opened up.
