Default Catheral Port Heads for LQ9

Rockauto.com has a nice price on re-manfactured heads. You can pick up a set cheaper than taking them to the shop and getting them done. I want to order a set for my 6.0L 2002 Lq9. 4" bore. If I search for 2002 Esclade heads it bring up a stock 318 casting replacement.

Is there a better Cathedral port head I can order that would be better than that? If so what model, make and year do I search under on their website?

I am not in a position to spend a grand plus for a aftermarket head, and want to stay with cathedral ports because that is the manifold I have.

Engine is going to stay pretty much stock for now, with just long tube headers. Maybe I small cam in the future.

Thanks in advance.

The casting number is actually 317, not 318.

You may want to look at 799 or 243 castings. The 317, 243, and 799 casting have a good port but the 317's have large combustion chambers. The 799/243 castings have smaller chambers for more compression.

OOPs........sorry I mistyped 318. Anyway, What year makes and models did the 799/243 casting come on? You cannot search the rockauto website by casting number as far as I know.

I'm sure ou can google it and find out. They're were on a bunch of trucks so they should be easy to find. They're usually in the classifieds here for $300-$500 depending on the condition they're in. The 243's that came in the ZO6 corvettes had hollow valves, so they'll be more expensive.
