Default Canton oil pan...leaking from weld.

Well, finally got a first start on the new motor yesterday, and the brand new Canton pan has a pin hole leak in one of the welds. Can't send it back because it already has the turbo drain bung welded in. Royal pain in the ***. Just a head's up, if anybody buys a Canton pan, test it for leaks first.

I called Canton, and the guy told me that, "usually it's just the stainless pans that have leaks...but we leak test every pan"...

I won't be giving Canton Racing any more of my business.

Learned my lesson a long time ago with those guys. I now use only Moroso. My cousin had issues with the Honda stuff also. Kinda sad since he lived in CT and lived close by, they were even less helpful in person.

Yeah, pretty ridiculous. The Moroso stuff is just so damn expensive..worth it I guess.

Yep when you pick up the pans and the weight isn't even comparable you'll know where you spent the extra money.

Makes sense. Getting a motor built will nickel and dime you to death. Lol.

So, both the welder and the QC suck. Good to know.

Hope everything works out. Shouldn't be bad to fix, but pulling it off is a pain.

I've heard of QC issues with Canton before. Few "big" engine builders use them. Moroso, Stef's, Hamburgers, etc.

Canton should've taken it back and fixed it without question. Yes you modified it but the issue had nothing to do with what you did.

Quality control and after sale customer care both need improvement at Canton. Something every business relies on/

Moroso owns Canton, they operate out of the same buildings in Guilford.

Not according to the addresses on their websites. Unless one is just a warehouse and they're trying to give the impression that they're two different companies.

These addresses are about eight miles apart so maybe....

I'd still choose Moroso over Canton.

The guy I talked to actually did offer to take it back and weld it. I just meant it is quicker for the build to have it welded locally. Guess I should have phrased that differently.

I appreciate the input, fellas.

This has changed since the last time I visited. Canton appeared to be a fairly small operation with no sign of Moroso anywhere nearby. I guess mergers and acquisitions happen daily but I'm willing to bet the Moroso is still a way better product even if they did acquire Canton.
