Default Edelbrock TES or Shorties?

I'm dropping an LS1 into my 94 V6 Camaro. The LS1 is an 98 or 99 block (which will be rebuilt) and 2000 heads. I am also using a tubular K member.

When checking Edelbrock's website, I was a bit confused when trying to choose between headers. They state 98/99 Camaros use TES, while 00~02 use the shorties. I cant see what the difference is between the years. They're all dual cat, arent they? Does anybody have a pics for the following Edelbrock kits:

6537 / 65370 / 65372 or 6672 ?

I was also looking t going with their cat back kit. If I have the dual cats for the car, then I'm safe to assume that the cat back system will include the Y pipe rather than the TES system like conventional header/y pipe setups, right?

Thanks again,

David

TES runs both sides through a long funny
pair of tubes to the single fat cat for those
years. This long funny tube is why the CARB
listing calls them "long tube headers" which
they are not, in any usual sense. The TES
headers' passenger side flange is incompatible
with '00-'02 standard pup-cat flanges.

The TES system looks mighty funky and the
single cat I don't think is your buddy from any
horsepower standpoint. I would say go with
some EO'd shorties and the Random Tech
high-flow catted Y, if you wanted the look of
legality and some chance of passing a tailpipe
test (and, by golly, those Mufflex offroad test
tubes sure look like they replace the RT cats
nicely, funny about that).

Then again a set of '00 cast manifolds, with a
little port matching, should flow pretty close
to shorties and raise no eyebrows. Still consider
that RT stock-logs high-flow catted Y though,
there is a fair bit of reduction in backpressure
to be had there (not quite, but nearly as good
as gutted cats or offroad tubes, and if you
only have to swap 2 short tubes every other
year that is not so bad).

LOL. Thanks for the RT tip. I never thought about that, and yes they do look like high flow cats. I ran a gutted cat in my 383 IROC.

I have a connection at edelbrock, and I have already gone over my budget, so I'll probably go with the Edelborck Shorties and cat back. I had hooker long tubes, custom 3 " exhaust with flowmasters in my IROC. I didn't like how it flow'd, it just seemed to be loud. I switched to an Edelbrock TES and (Gale) Banks Cat back sytem and was pleased with both sound and performance, so I figured I'd give them a try again.

I'm still wondering about the Edelbrock cat back system (#5772) . Does anyone know if this includes the Y pipe?

Thanks
D
