pulleys and belt

I'm going to be running a alt, w/p, and that is it. Instead of using a tensioner, couldn't I make the alt adjustable? I was thinking a turn buckle type deal with a right and left heim joints to adjust.

Yes jegs sells a kit just for that. That's what I run.
