Default Engine oil consumption through PCV system

I have the PCV valve deleted and a catch can added. Is it possible to have oil consumption of up to 2qts in a 500mile period? Or do I have bigger problems on my hand? Just rebuilt the motor and everything is brand new so I'm at a loss

There is no-way that you should be losing two quarts every 500 miles. Something is wrong somewhere.

Are you sure you have the catch can routing correct? Are you running without a pcv valve? That could certainly explain some of your consumption.

Even so 2 qt is a tremendous amount to be losing. Is the catch can catching that much or is it just disappearing?

How's your coolant look?

Assume you've already checked underneath for signs of leaks?

Is this 2 quarts lost every 500 miles turning up in the catch can?

What engine, vehicle and year are we talking about?

I would highly recommend you go back to a PCV system, the LS6 PCV setup works pretty good.

I have it in my 250K miles truck and my catch can catches a few ounces every 3,000 miles.

If you want know if it's going through the PCV - or lack thereof - pull the throttle and look inside the intake. If its a horrible mess in there, you've got your answer

I would get the valve seals replaced. My 99 TA guzzled a quart of oil every 1000 to 1500 miles. After valve seals it's half quart every 4000 miles.

A properly built stroker with a 4 inch stroke crank won't more oil than a good stock LS1. My 91 RS has a 383 LS1 that doesn't use any noteworthy oil between 3000 mile oil changes. I've never seen the oil level change on the dip stick between oil fillsI check at each gas will with all of my cars.
