Default Replacing Corsa with "American Thunder" Flowmaster

my corsa is shot...and i got it used so i don't have a reciept. Another 300 dollars for a new muffler isn't in my price range....i saw the horse power tv recently and i can get a muffler like that, flowmaster, pretty cheap. I've heard flowmaster sucks unless you get the race series ones, will i really be able to notice a difference in performance. I race every week, so i know what hte car runs.

As you may have read.. and will get flamed for here very shortly..

The 80 series Flowmaster flows terribly. If you're going to just replace the muffler, buy either the magnaflow or the Hooker replacements.

Granted the Flowmasters have a great sound. That series muffler just sucks..

The Dynomax Ultraflow Welded was always said to be a good flowing 1 in 2 out muffler for these cars. This is just what I have read.

Yes, you will see a definite change in your ET's. The link I posted is someone who just swapped over a Maganflow for a Flowmaster muffler and they picked up 2-3 mph in their ET.

Stock muffler- ~200 cfm flow
Flow 80 series- ~360 cfm
Magnaflow- ~1100 cfm

See the difference? DONT PUT ON THE CHOKEMASTER! Go with Magnaflow

I've looked around, and all I've seen is the 3" inlet w/ dual 2.5" outlets.. I'll keep looking though..

thats all i've seen too.

I'm in the same situation as you.

Im just hoping the original owner (lukcily it is a friend) can get a new muffler, so i don't need to do something else. as $300 is crazy for a crappy muffler

Another vote for NOT using FM 80 series.
A buddy had a DynoMax crossflow that came apart on him. Blew out the guts... It may be a fluke, but I wouldn't get one after that.
You have all the right pipes, so you just need a muffler and the Magnaflow is better flowing than most, even Corsa.
About size, the only one that matters is the inlet. The smaller outlets don't affect anything since there are 2. If you have 3" tailpipes, any muffler shop can mod them to go onto the 2.5" outlets.

Alex, talk to Sue about Magnaflow. She may be able to help you out.

no, thats the V6 kit... the LS1 magnaflow kit is just like the corsa, but 2.5" pipes coming out of it.
