Default TB intake manifold Question/ suggestion.

I bought a 92mm nick Williams tb. I have a ls6 intake manifold with 243 heads 238/242 612/615 lsa 114 cam 4:11 gears 9 in rear? After the tune & dyno the was pushing 397rwhp. So my question is should i go with a with a fast intake manifold will it make a difference with 92tb? How much hp will i gain is it worth?

If you search the manifold topics, you'll routinely see +10 hp for 92 over LS6, and +10 for 102 over 92 manifolds. Porting them can add to those numbers as well. It's up to you if the cost in upgrading is worth 10-20 hp.

Yeah doesn't really seem worth it. Just trying figure away to get intoo that mid 400 range thought the f.a.s.t would do the trick!

What exhaust do you have? Your numbers seem semi-low, but maybe the 9in is eating some of it.

Stock 243 heads is why the numbers are low. Spend the $1000 that you would spend on an intake and put it into having your heads ported. Better yet buy some aftermarket heads and you’ll be close to mid 400 rwhp.

Trick Flow 220’s will get you very close.

Call Tony Mamo up. His 220's are high dollar, but worth it. I hear through the grapevine he's working on a new head for the 5.7 based off the trick flow casting. Should come in a bit cheaper than the MMS220.

Look at the intake manifold & head dyno tests on Superchevy.com and Hotrod.com
Even the really high dollar manifolds only beat out the lowly factory truck intakes on the high end of RPM's. Average power 3,000 rpm to 7,000, the best bump I've seen is under 5 percent. Ask yourself if that's worth $1,000 for the FAST manifold.
Hell, even heads - yeah, you can get a power bump - but is the after market stuff worth the money for that tiny incremental difference vs a 243 or an LS3 casting?
That next 3 horsepower to put you over the magic 400 mark could get damned expensive.

Porting your stock 243 heads alone will net you at least 35 to 40 rwhp. Adding a FAST 92mm or 102mm will pick you up anywhere between 15 to 20 rwhp. I would do the heads first.

What headers are you running?

I will be constructing a thread tonight with information and pics of my new 223 cc MMS Sportsman heads.....they will come in around $400 cheaper than my current crop of full CNC heads and offer alot of value. Similar intake numbers to my full CNC 220's and a little less on the exhaust.

If your on a budget and looking to get the most bang for your buck Im confident these heads will perform extremely well and offer all the attention to detail your accustomed to seeing with any product that has my name attached to it.

I will post the new thread with all the info tonight in the Gen III internal section

Anyone interested feel free to PM, email me, or pick up the telephone if you like

Cheers,
Tony
