Cherry red headers
Hey guys so I did the cam, valve springs and injectors then had the car tuned.... Decided to do heads with bigger headers along with racetronix in tank pump.... Car runs and drives but the headers get cherry red I know a retune is prob needed just wanted your inputs....
Thanks

Check your timing, check your a/f ratio
At idle, it might be difficult to glow red with simply a lean condition. It usually takes an exhaust restriction, or severely reduced ignition timing, to cause a red condition at idle. Unless the tube is very thin walled (I am more used to turbocharger manifolds which are far thicker).
Biggest dangers are, you could melt/warp the parts of the engine, like the header flange or head. Also if any water splashes up on them while they are that hot they might crack. Did you degree wheel the new cam?

When I installed the cam and springs and had the car tuned it was fine and running very well.... After that I decided to buy some 799 heads p&p with 3 angel valve job and the fast92mm with 92mm throttle body..... The idle on initial startup will rev to about 1500rpm and surge until it warms up then its idling at 1200..... If I drive for a bit and press the clutch in idle will jump to 2000 then come back down but does like to hang here and there.... I am 100% sure the cam is dot to dot.... Nope I didn't degree the cam.... I have the catted Y hooked to the headers no exhaust....

If an engine springs a vacuum leak the RPM increases with its magnitude. A large enough vacuum leak to cause a serious lean condition at idle will make the engine "pop, skip and jump"(backfire, miss, sputter) as if it had a radiacal camshaft (almost) and the idle will be higher than it should be, as an obvious indicator. It is very rare to see a glowing exhaust in this condition because the temperature generated by the lean condition is not excessive near idle speeds,, because the quantity of fuel is minimal (there is very little fuel mass to extract energy from near idle speeds)
