Question Can a poor TPS connection at the TB cause loss of idle?

I've had a long standing issue of the car randomly not wanting to idle. It'll start and then the rpms will just fall until the car dies. You can keep it running by holding the accelerator. It's intermittent and doesn't happen often. I recently pulled the whole motor and harness from the car to refresh the top end and paint the chassis.. I found the wires going to my TPS on my throttlebody had dried out and lost some of their insulation, exposing the wires. I reinsulated the wires and thought all was well. After re-installing everything I still had the problem occur. It's only happened once so far in probably 20 or so starts. Do I maybe need to replace those wires entirely or would they not be related to the idle issue? If that's not it, any suggestions on where to start looking? The engine is not throwing any codes.
