Default Starter for 5.3 and T56

So I'm in the middle of a engine swap, have a 5.3 2001 year, and a T56 with a Mcleod steel flywheel, cant remember the tooth count, but I have the starter that came on the 5.3 that was automatic, now I'm assuming that wont work, or will it? What the best starter to get? Just get one from a Camaro? with Manual Trans?

Your existing starter should work just fine.

I have a 5.3 starter and t56. The 5.3 starter is ideal over the ls1 due to the ls1 starter having the issue of snapping off the block. Having seen this happen in person i was paranoid and swapped them out for peace of mind.
