bets on headers? on 403 ls2....
I put my 403 together over about 2 weeks...start to finish...and its easier to say what was new then used.
It had a new crank, rods, and bearings and new morel lifters. Every other part in the engine was used.....already, including the rings and the head gaskets.
I bought the wiseco pistons off some one here....yep I reused the rings...cause i could, it was my engine to mess with.
It uses , 317 heads cut .050.....they were cnc and hand finished before I bought them off here.....and the cam came with them. its 239/253 low 600's lift. and it drives like the 228 cam that was in the 5.7 it replaces.
The pistons were plus 3 cc so compression is about 12.54 to 1.
On top is a very old fast 90 (grey top) that I traded for to a guy(a good friend) in california cause it wouldnt pass smog on his vette. and a 88$ throttle body that I had on the 5.7 before this engine.
Anyways, it still has camaro 1 3/4 mid lenght headers (i think mac) and Im looking for motivation to cut them......7 inches down from the primary and step to 1/7/8 and build out the side to side pipes (its a 66 vette) to some old flow master 4 into 2 into 1 collectors.......at about 36 inch primaries at that point.
It made 450 rwhp on a stingy mustang running out of fuel on a 99$ external ebay pump, so I replaced it with an exrternal 380 aem...havnt been back yet to do more work. It was 13.5 to 1 at 6000 +....on e 85....
That seems to be taken care of now, just no numbers yet.
It runs thru a 2004r with a precision 9.5 3000 stall. It runs high 10's right now on a street night.
do you think 30 hp is possible from a too small midlenght to a decent long tube?
I figured you guys didnt have much to do at work today.....itll also lose around 70 lbs , in exhuast weight. So it seems like a good idea.
