Will a custom (equal length) Y-pipe stop the dreaded Mac header rasp?

Will a custom (equal length) Y-pipe stop the dreaded Mac header rasp?
I put a nice size smash in my mac y-pipe (compliments of a "Dukes of Hazard" moment!), so I need to replace a section of the pipe to fix it.
I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure if the unequal length of the mac y-pipe contributes or causes the annoying rasp between 2000-2500 rpms?
If not I'll just replace the section I smashed
Tommy
PS or maybe it is time to put little bullet mufflers in the y-pipe...

I decided against cats (goes against my religion....), but that should certainly solve your problem. I think your best bet is a set of car-sound cats, they are about $60-90 each, seen them on ebay. You want the straight through bullet design, I forger exactly what size (or model number). Hopefully someone else can chime in...

I have a pair of Carsound 2.5" cats for sale. These are new-in-box ... I am asking for $115 shipped in the Continental US.
MAC cats have the reputation of being rather poor is quality and flow characteristics, so most everyone on this board will agree that they are a waste of money. The MAC y-pipe is a pretty decent piece, but it will have rasp from about 2100-2400 rpms and it will be very annoying.
The best option for a catless application is to fabricate your own y-pipe with mandrel bends using a merge collector like the one from Flowmaster or the one from Dr. Gas and create equal length piping from the header collector to the y-pipe collector.
If you want to run cats, then add them to an off-road MAC y-pipe or use Carsound or Random Tech cats in a custom y-pipe.
