Default Motor mount bolt

Im doing poly motor mounts, and one of the bolts that holds it to the block on the passanger side is going in crooked. What are my options? The only thing I can think of is to cut the bolt to make it shorter and just tighten it as much as it would go.

The correct option is to re-tap the hole.

Is the flange at the base of the head hitting the motor mount? That's what mine was doing so I grinded the flange down. Went in like a charm.

I was thinking about that, but what would make the tap go in straight instead of angled like the bolt. Ive never re-tapped anything haha

That's what i thought at first, so i took the motor mount out and put the bolt in by itself but it still goes in at an angle

just hold the tap straight and it will center itself as it re-cuts the threads.

I would loosen all 4 bolts if they arent already and try that one first and then get them all started before final torque

I was able to re-tap it, took a little time but it came out good. Thank you

Same thing happened to me. Could only get 3 bolts to find good threads on each side. I told myself I would take it easy and fix it soon. That was like 5 or 6 years ago.
