Default drilled thermostat

anyone else here put some holes in theres to allow flow when it isn't open? i did it today, 3 1/4 holes. i must say it works nicely.

I put one hole on the top half of mine. Worked great, no air pocket to deal with.

I always drill a hole on a new 'stats for air bubbles
(even on my older cars) but (3) 1/4"ers is kind of
over-the-top. Single 3/32" for me.
