Default 02 sensor questions

I got a new set of exhaust manifolds for my 55 chevy LS1 conversion and the passenger side does not have a port for the 02 sensor. I believe they were off of a '01 SS. Can someone tell me where the first sensor is located on the passenger side of this vehicle? Also, can I do away with it? Thanks, Steve

Passenger side has it right after the inlet flange on the
"pup cat" on my '02, facing front/down, while driver's
bung is on the manifold casting.

I'm not familiar with a "pup cat", is that directly connected to the exhaust manifold flange? Thanks.
