Default Flowmaster on Duals

I've been listening to the exhaust at ls1sounds.com and the maroon TA with the Flowmaster driving down the street SSOUNDSS AWESOME...

But flowmaster seems to have a bad rep on here... can I ask why?

That TA has the Flowmaster 10 series mufflers, which are aweomse muffles! It's the Flowmaster 80 Series (crossflow) one that sucks. Its the muffler that comes with the Flowmaster cat-back system for our cars. For duals, you would want to get the 10 series, they are hard to find, but sound good, and flow well. They run about $85 a piece. If you find any cheaper let me know.

Flowmaster straight through mufflers: GOOD!

Flowmaster crossflow mufflers: BAD.

It's the crossflow mufflers that get the bad rap around here. Sure, there will be some who will show flow bench comparisons, but since an internal combustion engine makes its exhaust in pulses and not a constant flow, the Flowmaster makes impressive power...even more than many straight thru mufflers. Can't make suction with a staight thru muffler. You can with a Flowmaster. Again, the exhaust is a series of pulses, it's not a jet engine.

Hmm, I see.. thanks for the info again...

I'm planning to be coming off a set of LT's (kooks/qtps) going out the back with a set of Corsa Tips...

How much does the sound change from shorty to LT's? I'm guessing it will get louder which is what some people want I guess... I just loved the clean refined sound coming out of that TA when he punches it going down the street, it just sounds clean.

Are you going to have cats? They tend to "clean up" the sound a little and get rid of the rasp. LT's will make it a louder and deeper souding, but you might get some rasp. Having go out the back will help it sound good. I'd say go for it. It will be loud and sound great, IMO.

Thanks for the compliments. It should be a little louder with longtubes, and a lot louder without cats.

It looks pretty good. It has to go under the axle though. Some have gotten it over the axle, but only with 2.5" and lots of $$$. It looks fine, but you can see the piping going under the axle from the back, not sure if thats goofy to you, but looks fine to me.

Anyone got a sound clip with the 10 series coming off a set of LT's... I'll probably take the plunge regardless, but I'd like to hear it first if I could...

Thanks.

that's where I found the clip of the TA that sounds so good, but he's got shorties... but the sound is just amazing IMO when he's taking off.

The other flowmasters on there are all dumped from what I can find.
