Default porting a waterpump?

i thought i heard something like this a while back...

i happen to have my waterpump out of the car now... i was looking at it... do you think that giving it some minor porting might increase the flow of coolant??

good or bad idea?

If you are having over heating problems, porting the water pump will not help. They are pretty close to matched to the block.. It is not worth possibly getting shavings through your cooling system for a 1 degree drop. If you feel your temps are getting higher as time goes on just replace it. What kind of issues are you having?
