Thumbs up Magana Flow muffler is on>

Very quiet muffler.I have SLP headers and at highway speed the exhaust note is very quiet. If you get on it it really growls. If you expect a loud note forget it.You will need a cut out with this muffler if you want it loud.
This is almost as quiet as the stock SS exhaust but it flows alot better.
2 thumbs up though.

I have a 2002 Z28 with the stock exhaust. I was thinking about getting the magnaflow muffler and not the entire catback system. Anyway, I heard the muffler is the most restrictive piece on the stock system anyway. I use to have a 98 SS and I really liked the sound, not too loud but louder than my stock 02 Z28. So it sounds like from your post, just the magnaflow muffler would do the trick for me. Thanks...

I loved just having the muffler. It's a nice deep tone that's not overwelming.

I had just the muffler for almost 2 years, LOVED it. Just Monday of this week I put the full Magnaflow catback on due to a very near up coming H/C & QTP headers. So I wanted the 3" all the way out.

The catback sounds very very close to just the muffler.

I guess I will be putting the muffler and welded on tips up for sale.

The stock muffler is NOT to bad.It actually enters in through the main pipe of course then takes a right then enters a straight chamber and out the left and right exit pipes.
This 1st pics shows were the exhaust enters and its a baffle.

This is were the exhaust comes out to the left and /or right pipe.

Heres some inerds of the Maganaflow
Exhaust comes in and hits that curved baffle

Here it exits to the passenger pipe.So yes the passenger side will sound a bit louder.

Then out to the drivers side pipe.

Nice Pics! So, do you think I should pick up a used SS muffler for $40-50 bucks or just buy a new magnaflow muffler for $100. I keep hearing the Magnaflow is 2x-3x louder than the SS muffler, this will be a daily driver for me and I don't want it too loud while cruising around.

The Magnaflow is very quiet putting around town. When you get on the gas it has a nice growl.Im not sure about just getting the SS exhaust. The SS exhaust does seem to have a free flow route in it.Not sure,If I had seen the inside before I bought the Magnaflow I MAY have just kept the SS exhaust.Don't know.

I've got the Magnaflow 5x8x18 muffler off the Loudmouth and Edelbrock LT's with merged collector and it sounds great. The idle sounds deep and when the RPM's rise the roar increases. Great product.

I have SLP LT's and ORY with the Magnaflow catback and it is FAR from quiet! It screams at WOT and just sounds MEAN around town - couldn't be happier! I have a few thousand miles on it now and it sounds better every day (especially after a good track day!)

I did lose HP over running the Loudmouth with the same set up, but it was unbearably loud!

I have the Magnaflow catback on stock manifolds and Y. I love the sound of it. It gives a nice deep rumble while just driving around, but when you open it up it just roars! From what I've heard, the muffler alone sounds similar, but I went with the whole catback for the improved flow. I'm thinking about getting Pacesetter LTs and ORY to open up a bit more sound and aggressiveness.

If you're looking for a mellow tone that really screams at WOT, go for the Magnaflow.
