Yes everyone here should thank 99 Black Bird for taking the time and expense to do this testing . He did what he promised and came through in a timely manner. When I look at the results I'm impressed by mid range flow of LS2D . But looking at the numbers of the LS1 , TBSS, and LSXRT this flow bench appears to be a bit conservative , compared with other published results. This does not make this any the less credible, but on another bench the #s may have been slightly higher. I had predicted that the LSD2 would do 260 cfm out of the box , while it fell short of that . If he sends this off to have a full port job this intake should gain another 5-7 cfm and put it well within the 260 mark. Again Thanks for a great test , if you would have not stepped up to the plate ,it may have been months maybe years before testing like this was preformed .

It's not about absolute numbers, but how they compare. If all manifolds flow low, then who cares? Especially if some are a known quantity. Same with dynos. As long as the same one is used for any/all tests on a certain subject, it's all about how they contrast/compare to each other.

I love this stuff!

While plans get conjured for round 2 of his flow bench testing, figured I would share a track test I did a few years back with 3 cathedral intakes on a high 11sec 6.0L build.

Really great job. It is nice to see them all compared on the same flow bench. I always wish we had this for some of the more popular heads on the same flow bench.

Thanks for taking the time to provide us with some real technical data. Looks like im going to order the dorman ls2 and drop it off to my guy who is also porting a set of 243 heads for me.

I plan on upgrading to the dorman intake. My car has a street tune and a yank 3200SS. It is stock other wise from suspension upgrades.

I plan on putting a 92mm NW TB, 100mm TSP MAF and a 104mm FTP lid.

Future plans are the hooker black heart 2.5 true dual system with the mid length 1 7/8 headers for the lowered ride height.

Would it make sense at this juncture to change the 2000 LS1 injectors?

Some time not too soon I may go with a small cam and 243 heads.

I wouldnt worry about injectors until your over 400whp and a cam sbould get you there.

Najania, I like German cars too!. The Porsche 924 Turbo was my first car crush.My x-gIrlfriend owns a Mercedes SLK350 and used to have a 911 Turbo. Her daughter is a devout Audi fan and owner. I briefly had an 02 BMW 540. Sadly were I live few few people really know how to repair or maintain them.

Regarding the TPiS LS6 I have one that Peak did the radical port work to the runners and plenum. Its on my 91 RS with the 383 LS1. Made 465 hp at wheels with a small 229/229 cam. My RS Drive line eats about 60 to 75 hp in my RS so 465+60 =525 or 465 +75=540 so at 2 hp per cfm as mentioned above the very tricked out TPiS LS6 on my RS probably is good for around 263 to 270 cfm. My TEA LS6 heads did 256 to 258 cfm with an LS6 intake and ported TB so I think that is a fair guess. In any case there is a reason the LSXRT is sitting on the shelf and not on the RS anymore. The TPiS LS6 edged the LSXRT by 2hp dyno tested on my RS. With a bigger cam I'm sure the LSXRT would have easily dominated. I like it when math and results are in the same ball park.

I hope to have a LS2/LS3 403/416 build with a big cam and put the LSXRT to work in another 3rd Gen Camaro eventually...

Yup, and a lot more than that below .500.

the dorman is flowing better then the tbss intake out of the box up to about .600" of lift. the tbss intake is better then the ls6. and yes the fasts are better, the lsxrt tested proves that. but also at 1k versus 340. the dorman is not supposed to be a competitor for the aftermarket flowing high at the top. it is designed for a oem replacement for mid range power and so far it does that well.

Bang for the buck, the Dorman is a clear winner, as TBSS manifolds are not as easy to get anymore, and anything with the FAST name on it inspires financial anguish.

TBSS should be on every 08-13 truck 5.3. Although I think it's too tall for a Fbody.
