Anybody run Spintech Pro Street 6000s in True Duals? I'm looking to replace the bullets in my Kooks True Duals... there's another thread where the Magnaflow 5x8x14 mufflers seem like a decent alternative to make it less obnoxious. But I don't love the way it sounds in videos...
What I have found that sounds incredible are Spintech Pro Street 6000s... which are 4x6x12 mufflers. So they may fit even better in the space at the back of the car.
What I'd like to do is have a very pronounced idle and insane WOT... with a mellow cruise.
The Magnaflows are still loud and get rid of a lot of the drone of the bullets... and are deep... and flow well. But at idle they aren't great and WOT they aren't super either. So it seems like I get a sorta mellow cruise and nothing else that I want.
The Spintechs are supposed to be designed to flow well and eliminate a lot of drone. And idle and WOT has a very unique sound.
But do they drone? Are they decent at cruise? Or are they obnoxious too? And do they actually flow? Their little "spin" zones doesn't look great for flow compared to the Magnaflow. I'd hate to cut up the Kooks system and put in $300 pair of mufflers (stainless Spintechs) only to find out the system still is annoying.

I talked to Spintech and they said the 9000s would be very loud with a modified car.
The 6000s have the same tone but a slightly larger case to absorb some of the sound. The 3000s are even larger, but start to become problematic from a packaging standpoint for us.
The 6000s would fit since it's a 4x6 case just like the 9000s but 12" long vs 9" long.

Couple of videos I saw... last one if the 4" F-Body specific muffler Spintech makes and Mufflex uses in their exhaust. Spintech said the sound is pretty close between two 6000s and that in tone. It's the only one I could find of interior exhaust noise in our cars... There's also a ton of GTO videos but almost none of them have cams or high stalls that add significantly to the sound levels. But most GTO guys say the Spintechs drone pretty bad... so ugh.

I don't have a installed pic but I run the Spintech super pro streets on my Trans Am. I currently just have them clamped onto the 3" true duals xpipe right under the rear axle, never did run them on out the back. They sound very aggressive and very loud under WOT. Cruising around they aren't too bad, to me anyways. They do have drone to them where it's just an open muffler under the car. I recently picked up the speed engineering rear exit true duals kit, going to install it and see how it sounds then I'll more than likely put my spintech mufflers in place of the others on the kit.

That'd be an interesting comparison...
I'm down to these 5. XR1 probably in the lead for their ability to dampen sound the most while not killing any performance.
Borla and Spintech are 304SS... the others are 409. So not as attractive to me.
The Delta Force 40 and Ultra Flow SS both are interesting. They sound very good on other cars. I know Flowmasters can resonate bad tho. The only chambered muffler from Flowmaster that would work at the rear of the car is the Delta Force 40 race muffler. Of course, I like the Flowmaster sound a lot.
Sort of at the other end is the Magnaflow. Never been a huge fan of the sound.
I could also get another pair of bullets and add them to the intermediate pipes ahead of the x-pipe. There's room there for a 4" canister. That would dampen the sound a bit. So that's another option. And Kooks does make a 5x8 muffler as well.

Kooks are definitely way, way too loud with an aggressive cam. It's hard to even talk while cruising in the car and I have cats. They do sound a lot different with just bolt-ons though. After I switch out my cam and go FI it should tame it down, but if not I will switch mufflers.

Which is why I'm trying to tone them down now.
I had an exhaust leak on the driver side rear pipe. That wasn't helping. And I was rubbing the DSL loop and transmission relo member. Getting all that fixed got rid of a lot of issues. As did moving to a 373 gear. But! It's still loud.
I think the XR1s would tame it down a lot. It's basically a straight through design with packing all around in a 6" canister. So it should fit in the same place as the bullets and absorb a lot of the sound... while still being loud.

Yep. Can't have too much exhaust with a supercharger...
The XR1s are much quieter than bullets from everything I've seen. But all the videos of them sound crazy loud too.

The 6000s are going to drone bad too.
It looks like the XR1s are my only hope. Now I need to find someone who can weld stainless for me.
The other option I have thought about is pulling the intermediate pipe off the header to the x-pipe and storing it. And then grabbing another set of stainless pipes and running a muffler there with clamps (so I could do it easily myself and could swap out several sets of mufflers to see which one worked best). But I don't really want to run a muffler ahead of the x-pipe. And the space is very limited there.
Anything bigger than a 4" or 4.5" muffler won't work. But it could be long and flat. Like the XR1 or the Spintech 3000s or 6000s for example. Or even a Black Widow 250 since it's 4x9. The XR1s are used as collector mufflers, so it might be okay. The Spintech and Black Widow don't have any packing in them. So as long as they don't restrict flow to the X-Pipe, they'd be fine. And then the bullets on the end act as resonators.
And to be honest, a pair of Black Widow 250s there would be interesting...
