K&N worth it???
I have a 2000 WS6 and it already had an air lid and LM catback from the previous owner. QTP's are going on in a couple weeks. The car still has a paper filter so I was wondering if the K&N is worth the $45 or $50?
I've been told that the K&N can let some dirt through and that the oil gets on the MAF and goops it up, any validity to that?
Will it be worth my while since I do have the ram air already or is the paper fine?
Thanks.

You definetly wont see any gains from one. I have had a k&n on my car for about 2 months and I havent had any problems with dirt of the oil on the maf. the only reason i bought mine was paper filters look like **** with clear lids.

I've used K&Ns for years now on different cars and have never had an oiling issue....as for gains, they will be minimal to not at all but you certainly won't lose power and never having to buy the usually more restrictive paper filter again is convenient.

I have had K&Ns for years. I have heard many things that say they only make a small difference. I have seen the oil build up on MAF sensors, particularly if you over-oil the filter. I still buy them though...they are a step better than snake-oil. Don't expect to feel anything, but every little but helps. The good thing is that you can keep reusing them, and they flow better than other filters when dirty.

IMO, it's not worth it
I had a K&N on mine for about a week. Everytime I would start 'er up, it would pop (out the exhaust) a couple times. Took it off, replaced it with a Fram paper filter, never did it again. Overpriced junk IMO, should be on the same level as a tornado and a crossflow Flowmaster

I've had my Holley Powershot for almost 3 years now with no problem.

i have the holly powershot. their oil is better then the k&n they say and wont leak on the maf. i think its def worth gettin man cause all u have to do is clean it. dont have to waste money on those shitty paper filters. i work at an oil change join and after seeing some scary things happen to paper filters i will never get one in one of my cars

Ask Patman, or any of the people who regularly do oil samples about K&N air filters. I've heard from 3 different sources that folks who have switched to K&N air filters have had bad things show up in the samples, indicating a lot of sand and dirt is passing through the filters.
My recommendation is don't do it.

im a newbie... but im almost 100% sure they dont flow any better than the paper filter if anything the paper flows better from what i hear from the big guys. but then again i am a newbie. I wouldnt do it, unless u plan on driving the car ALOT and planning on using it for ALONG time, cuz a paper filter is like 5 to 8 bucks.... a k&n filter is like 50 so u got 10 paper filters to go (30,000 miles) to equivel a k&n filter (cost wise) IDK.... I dont suggest it. Save the cash for your next mod (unless it isnt an issue)

You do realize that if there is any flow problems with the K&N or AC filter, it's like 1-2 hp. You won't even notice it! Just throw in whatever you *think* is going to be better. If you want to reuse your filters, get the K&N. If you want to replace them every oil change, get the AC filter.
