If I were to do it over again I would have kept the stock catback with a 3.5" cutout. A 3" ypipe with 3.5" flowmaster collector and cut out would make just as much power as true duals.

I have the stock muffler on my '02 Z28 (electric cuttout) and my '04 C5.

Here's something interesting. I dynoed 423 with the cuttout open on my Z28. It dynoed 397 with it closed. 26 RWHP difference!

That reverse split cam dont like any restriction, Colonel.

I just checkd. QTP now makes a 4" cutout now for $250. Cheaper than any catback. The smaller 3.5" is $190.

It sure doesn't....although I'm not sure ANY 423 RWHP engine would do very well through the stock muffler.

I still have my stock catback to be stealthy on the street (not that ET Streets/skinnies & a roll cage showing through the back window are stealthy) - I don't street race, and I don't want any hassle from the cops.

Mine is 25HP more with the cutout open on the dyno, and 2 tenths/2 MPH faster at the track.

"Mine is 25HP more with the cutout open on the dyno"

You too huh? Maybe my reverse split doesn't hurt muffled power afterall. What are the specs on that cam, if you don't mind? I'm just assuming it's not a reverse split.

Stock muffler w/ 3" flowtech cutout. Plenty loud when I need it to be , and its the best of both worlds

Stock Muffler here on a 2001 Z28. Just put in a Street Pro electric cutout, feels a lot stronger with the cutout open, but I'm going to dyno it later this summer. I think stock exhaust with an electric cutout is the best of both worlds. Open it for better performance and sound than any catback and close it for quiet cruising.

Thanks,
Glenn

Im still 100% stock and I think I might stay that way, I have been down the "modded" road before and I think this one will stay stock. But if I was to do something I would add a cut out and keep the stock muffler, cheapest way and the best of both worlds.

My Formula has a Pacesetter ORP, Edelbrock 3" I pipe from an edelbrock Cat Back, Flowtech with a Qtec & I had the stock Formula muffler welded to the 3" Edelbrock I pipe.

Don't worry this beauty of an exhaust will be popping up in the For Sale Section just as soon as I can afford True Duals.
